Finding the Right Community: Part One

When looking to buy a home, the community where you choose to live is just as important as the house you will make your home.
"... the community where you choose to live is just as important as the house you will make your home."
Whether you’re moving up, moving out or moving on, the community where you choose to live is just as important as the house you will make your home. Is it near a park? Is it safe? Is it likely to appreciate? All are important things to consider when making your move.

Picking a noteworthy neighborhood is an essential part of buying a home. While the home might be perfect, if you aren’t in the right area, your dream home could become a nightmare. There are a few things to consider when making your neighborhood decision. Are you:

Nearly nesting?
If children are on your mind – or already taking up most of your time – then the school district should be at the top of your list. Are there good schools nearby? Is there a bus stop by your house? What is the graduation rate? All of these are good questions to consider when shopping around.

Pet prepared?
Parks are vital to the canine social scene and without a place to run and play, cabin fever can quickly set in with your pet. If you are dog-friendly, make sure there is a park nearby. If you have an outdoor cat, make sure the area is safe, without a lot of traffic. For all of your furry friends, make sure there is a pet store nearby with all of the supplies you’ll need to keep them healthy and happy.
